Who are the Knights

We are a 2.1 million – member, Catholic family, fraternal service organization, composed of 14,000 local councils. Our mission to serve our church, our families, our communities and those in need reflects the vision of our founder, the Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney. Father McGivney created the Knights of Columbus nearly 140 years ago to support its members in their faith; provide support for their families; and direct their charity to the needs of the less fortunate and the Church. His vision is manifested in three principles of our Order: charity, unity and fraternity. It is the practice of these principles, guided by our faith in the Eucharist, which drives men to join our Order.

Insurance

The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal benefit society, which means we can provide financial security to members and their families, while turning premiums into charitable impact. As a Knights of Columbus insurance agent, you have the opportunity to grow in your faith and help your community every day.

Scholarships

The Knights of Columbus has been helping young people obtain this freedom since our founding. During the past year, the Supreme Council provided over $1.5 million in scholarships to students attending colleges, universities, and seminaries. Learn more about what is offered and how to apply.

Church Loans

We serve two functions for the Knights of Columbus. First, the loans are an investment supporting K of C insurance policyholders. Second, we provide an opportunity to help grow the worldwide Catholic community.
